Tuesday in CEO, we took a trip to Toyota Boshoku Illinois to learn about a step in the manufacturing of Toyota vehicles. The tour started off with a short presentation of some history of TBIL, as well as what they do there. At TBIL they make the seats and carpets for toyota vehicles. The plant has been open for just over 20 years now, and has been reacquired several times over the years, first by ATS, and then TBA in 2012, being renamed in 2017. The plant has expanded much in it’s time, now taking up over a whopping 300,000 square feet of space. After some explanation of TBIL, we went out on the floor to have a walk-through tour, where we were shown the beginning to end process of the manufacturing. They also showed us some new technologies and equipment that are being implemented to increase efficiency. After that, we went back to the conference room where students asked some more questions about how things operate. It was a great tour and we’d like to thank everyone at TBIL for the opportunity!
